The QL muscle (Quadratus Lumborum) connects the back side of the pelvis with the rib cage on each side of your spine. It often acts as the compensatory muscle to the oblique and can get very tight after a long run. Additionally, there are a lot of other muscle attachments at the base of your back that will benefit from this exercise. In the video above I'll show you a great stretch to loosen it up.
